The market share for Apple’s iPhones dropped in key regions in the three months ended October , new data research has revealed. According to the firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the iPhone market share reached 32.9 percent in the United States during this quarter, down from 40.6 percent a year ago.

TheiPhone X launched on November 3rd, following the dual-release of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus on September 22nd. Kantar cited this staggered phone release schedule as a reason for the slump in market share.

“It was somewhat inevitable that Apple would see volume share fall once we had a full comparative month of sales taking into account the non-flagship iPhone 8 versus the flagship iPhone 7 from 2016,” said Dominic Sunnebo, global business unit director at Kantar.

Meanwhile, Android’s market share rose in the October quarter to 66.2 percent in the United States, up from 58 percent one year prior. Further, Android also saw a rise in other countries, such as Japan, Britain and Germany.

However, Apple performed better in China, rising to 17.4 percent market share, up 0.5 from the previous year. On the other hand, Android’s share fell to 82.3 percent.
